INDEPENDENCE DAY
Sedimented in the depths of time
are those days of wrecks sublime,
When our pious land was made an abbatoir
to establish in it the British power.
Where once lived saints and sages
became the abode of wrath and rages,
Behind those tears of blood
came the spirit of independence as a flood.
Great leaders of our nation
sprang up bringing integration,
The slogans of ''Vandemataram'' brought an
era of tremor
and the ''Quit India'' movement made the rulers
shiver.
And then came the beauteous day-15th August,
1947
when we were set free from the clutches of
a demon
When proudly everyone even babies interauterine
could declare '' Independent India is mine''
Beneath this mud is that plaza of dead
on the altar of whose we now earn our bread,
Every stone would weep from the gulf of her
heart
for those pards of my Nation who suffered the
onslaught.
With the clearing mists of tears
and no more chaos, tumult and fears,
We shall see our tricolor in celebration
of the Golden year of Independent Nation.
